Good free web hosts.

Post by Jeff_pony »

I am trying to find a web host that is free (im a student) and has unlimited bandwidth and about 10mb space with ftp access. I know this sounds like a lot for a free site but I have found some that offer this like this site:

http://www.web1000.com/

Though I set an account up it does not seem to have been activated. I don't mind ad's etc as I just want to store my theme files on the site and remote link to them. So if anyone knows of a host like the above please help, getting my updates to the people counts on it ;)

Spaceports is free and has a banner ad, but you get.

 • unlimited space
 • up to 5 GB of transfer for your site per month
 • your own cgi-bin
 • PHP scripting
 • MySQL database support
 • helpful user forums and real-time support chat rooms

Good luck signing up though. They have an hourly limit that almost always seems to be passed.

web1000's problem is there's a huge delay between when you upload stuff via ftp and when it actually shows up in your browser. The good things are it's free, no ads, hosts domains, and has free email for your domain. If I remmeber correctly.

If you want, give www.graffiti.net a try. It's pretty good. No hassles of any kind that I can rememember.

EDIT: URL

It does seem a site geared for porn :S . But then I dont care as I just want to host files. The thing is that I set this site up last week and I still cant use it. I can upload files, but cant access the site....

Oh, the thing about spaceports is if you don't have any content (web pages, etc.) and you just host files, then they deactivate your account.

Try topcities.

You get 150 MB to host files and 600MB bandwidth.

FortuneCity

Actually, no... it doesn't meet your requirements. It's just my favourite though, lol.

250mb/month? That not much.

I personally like web1000. It has served me quite well.

web1000 looks kind of shady, but you can't beat 50MB.

That's impossible, theres no such thing as unlimited bandwidth, it's a myth, hell call it like it is... a marketing ploy. If you ever go over the imaginary number they set for normal usage be prepared to get hosed.
