Any program better at defragging than windows defrag?

Just wondering if there are any programs that can do a better job of defragging windows XP than windows own defragger?

The native defragger in XP is the freeware version of Diskeeper (or something akin to it). Well, it is in Win2k, so I'd expect it to be the same in XP. Still, I find the paid-for version to be quite good for my needs when using Win2k.

Good recommendations on both Norton and Executive Software's Diskkeeper products. The commercial version of Diskkeeper is faster and more industrial strength than free "lite" version that comes with Windows. Still, I've never had issues with native Windows utilities and they're essentially "good enough" to meet all my needs.

Still, for me I stay away from special utility packages all together and always use just the native Microsoft tools. Usually on my work PCs, DEFRAGS are only once per month and I home I do this quarterly. I'll usually fire this up while at a meeting or lunch rather than automatically scheduling it.

The only reason I use Norton Utilities is so I can schedule defrags... I can't do that with the regular Windows 2000 defragger.

BTW, on my Win98, the Defrag copyrights lists Symantec as one of the companies that has a copyright on it. Did they help develop it or something?

Diskeeper is lame. It defrags fast, but there is little or no performance boost. (At least on Win98)

Some of the Microsoft utils were originally created by Central Point, which was later acquired by Symantec.

Perfect Disk is really fast but im not sure how good it is at defragging

The paid version of Diskeeper lets you schedule the time for defrags, too. I've been using Diskeeper 6 for XP for quite some time. Works very well.

I used a Disk Keeper trial version sometime in 2002 - It was recommended on The Screen Savers (TechTV).
