Adobe Flash Player Fiasco! HELP?!

Post by SweetFacz3913 »

Until recently I have had negligible problems with Adobe Flash Player. However, Adobe recently upgraded Flash Player from 14.0.0. to 14.0.0.145. Because no link to upgrade was supported, I uninstalled the old and downloaded and installed v14.0.0.145. I checked my Shockwave Flash and it is correctly set as always enable, and reflects v14.0.0.145. Having said all of the foregoing, the problem is (an is becoming increasingly more difficult to be online, scripts, crashes, stalls and freezes, I am beyond frustrated.

I have posted and have received innumerable, ongoing replies from Guru-Level advisors at Norton 360 Forum, several WIndows forums, and more. All to no avail. I'm ragged. All seems to be in order, and yet...no fix. I ran Malwarebytes which picked up several PUP infections; that, after first running SpyHunter, which came up with 3667 problems, 152 infections, PUPs, and infected programs, files, you name it, it was there! A couple of hours to run. I am suspect of SpyHunter's run due to the depth of the scan, the numbers are overwhelming.

iMacri, Moderator/Guru at Norton 360 Forum, doesn't trust SpyHunter over Malwarebytes, doesn't really know of it, and feels it is too aggressive and only supports Malwarebytes as safe. Moreover, SpyHunter made changes to some of my settings, disrupted several, deleted some functions, etc. I suppose I can restore, but I'm feeling very little confidence as the hours and days fly by with no fix for Flash Player at this point. Flash is currently at 14.0.0.179. I suggest you uninstall your old version, install the new one and see what your situation is. You might need to boot from a rescue CD that can scan for malware without running your infected operating system . You may need to change your BIOS settings to enable that. If none of this helps I suggest you ask for help in the Wilders Security forum for "malware problems & news" at http://www.wilderssecurity.com/forums/m ... s-news.38/

Thanks for your information response. I had already uninstalled 14.0.0.145 and Adobe emailed the Bulletin to me directly, and In installed it with no problem. That fiasco is now at rest, thankfully.

However, I have a new, more severe problem of my own making (I presume). I don't know if this is the proper forum link to post, so I will summarize:

During the stress of the several days long flash player issue, I accessed msconfig/Services to remove "debugger enabled" - I had noted days earlier when I logged on that sign in appeared "Windows 7 (debugger enabled)" - I don't know how or why that occurred, but searching and finding nothing I tried msconfig, first under the startup tab, where I found nothing regarding debugging. then to Services.

Somehow, I don't know how, but the entire listing of Microsoft entries and all other genre, became stopped! Before that occurred, I observed that possibly due to the ongoing flash player problem all tabs within system configuration were frozen or, disabled if you will. All enabling tabs were grayed out.

Therefore, how the stopped happened is a mystery. Now, I cannot log into my PC normally. I can only access my desktop with the very limited functions, Safe Mode Networking. I know I require remote assistance, as I am not at all sufficiently proficient as a self-help-tech to manage this new dilemma.

Moments ago I went to Services and the enable tab was available, so I clicked, enabled, and saved. Regretfully, all digressed back to stopped. Any advice on who, where, or what to contact for assistance would be appreciated. It might come to pass that I will have to have received remote tech support or a home visit. I am not in a financial position currently to incur such charges, so I am hoping to self-remedy.
