Not that anyone would want to do this. . .

Had finally gotten Linux Mint 17 in a stable condition, all the things somewhat close to the manner in which I wanted them and decided it was time to replace Linux Mint 16 and use that drive for Ubuntu 14.04.1.
Consider this a warning:
Ubuntu changed the labels and boot order during the install.
Not supposed to be able to do this without administrative privilege, it was locked.
Original sequence:
Linux Mint 17 - 64 bit on SDA
Linux Mint 16 - 64 bit was on SDB - EOL reached in July 2014.
Empty - Re4
Ubuntu 12.04.5 on the WD Black

Set the disc to use for Ubuntu 14.04.1 as SDB.
The install changed the boot labels so SDA was SDB, to suit whatever it needed to suit, and wiped a couple of weeks worth of work and configuration not to mention all personal files and configuration fixes which had been transferred from Linux Mint 16.
Not as bad as it may seem as copies of the personal files were maintained on stick and in 12.04.5 but the updates and changes are all lost.
Have a copy of the repositories which is not too old for mint and reinstalled it over the drive Ubuntu 14.4.1 pirated.

Just a thought for those multi-booting. #-o

ps: load time of the repository from dvd to Re4 would take about 15 hours, load time on an SDD is about two hours or less.
Doesn't matter what you say, it's wrong for a toaster to walk around the house and talk to you
