Related to this is the news that some major sites are switching to https always to keep the NSA out.
Try typing google.com and you get https://www.google.com/ . Ditto Yahoo. They should have thought of this before.

Re: Is 'https everywhere' needed with latest Firefox?
HTTPS isn't gonna stop NSA from snooping around any website. The US government forced Yahoo, (and "all the rest") to comply with a secret and sweeping surveillance request in 2008. Yahoo tried to resist, but the threatened fines would have bankrupted Yahoo fairly quickly. "Yahoo’s longtime outside counsel ... calculated the cost of resistance at more than $25 million after the first month and $400 million in the second month."

A mind is a terrible thing to waste. Mine has wandered off and I'm out looking for it.

All my years of avoiding Google search went down the drain. But is the gov't still doing it since Snowden's revelations?

Fine. My question was: Is the gov't still doing it since Snowden's revelations?

@LoveMyFoxy - Considering the sophisticated level of hacking these days and the failure by many large commercial concerns to fix outdated systems, tardy fixes by some OSs and software you should realize the NSA is the least of your concerns.

True. And I've become more concerned about my credit card and SS# being disseminated than the hacking of my computers. I protect myself here with backups and a HD clone, but out there, we have little control.
