Two mystery updates ...or...
...now EVERY Tuesday is Patch Tuesday!
Along with the three I could figure out, one of which I suspect has to do with N Korea's new timezone, I spotted these:
-- KB3075249 "Update that adds telemetry points to consent.exe in Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 " (HUH?)
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/3075249
-- KB3080149 "This update aligns down-level devices on the same UTC binary that's released in Windows 10. This update would enable all the down-level devices to receive the software updates, design updates, and additional power and performance tuning." (Double HUH?)
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/3080149
I've marked both "hidden," for now.

Adds the ability to report to Microsoft how frequently the user has to confirm/reject the UAC prompt when making changes to the system and the programs installed on it.

Timezone fixes, as far as I can tell.

Thanks KWierso,
They sound prettylame tame, but I think I'll wait a few days to see if anyone posted any horror stories. I've gotten so the only updates I download right away are the one's marked "Important."

Re: Two mystery updates ...or...
I haven't allowed automatic updates on my W-7 pro system since building, and have relied on seeing ahead of time what MicroSnot was attempting to sneak in.
When I learned of these 4 KB's involved in their snooping, I carefully went through every installed update (none were listed), and all updates waiting to be installed (again, none were there), and finally today (12 Sep 2015) before updating following this week's 2nd Tuesday releases (again none there).
I clicked on the waiting list, and installed them.
Guess what. KB3080149 was there, despite my efforts to keep that from happening.
I have no doubt they are installing these snoop programs surreptitiously under other KB numbers, otherwise they are not being shown in the list of updates to be downloaded/installed.
Beware, they are up to no good regardless of denials that it is to help them help us.

Re: Two mystery updates ...or...
Just a personal opinion...
No malliz.
I also do not want WIN 10 on my system.
After all the "stories" I've read & there are lots, I definitely do not require an OS that automatically snoops on it's "users"
via their web cams, microphones, keyboards etc., etc.
No thank you!

Re: Two mystery updates ...or...
I have installed it on three machines one went cleanly and other than early driver issues is not a problem the other two a win 8.1 laptop and an older win 7 dual core desktop were basically a disaster and I rolled both of them back to the original OS. BE WARNED driver issues are still a BIG problem. If you do intend to update have a reasonably fast pc with newer components. As normal Microsoft have grossly understated what system specs you need. And yes the constant nagging to upgrade gets old very quickly

When users hide updates in 8/8.1 they're transferred to the "Restore hidden updates" repository from where they can be restored and installed.mightyglydd wrote:Hidden where?Ortho_Fan wrote:I've marked both "hidden," for now.
When you right click an update, you get the menu shown in the image (click it to see full size).:
