Top Menu line

Post by Graceman »

The menu line across the top of the Firefox window is now so small its difficult to read come on remember some of us older generation users need to read the menu so can we have a method of increasing the font size & type to suit us older generation users, there is plenty of room across the top

Are you running the default theme?
Does the same thing occur if you launch the application in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode

Its nothing to do with themes of web pages its the menu bar font that is difficult to read and is the same in safe mode or normal mode when the menu bar is displayed across the top above the Tabs.
Zoom has no effect on this either.

And what do you think controls the color and font size in that menu bar if not the theme?

Because the theme just changes the background colour

Unless I'm reading all this wrong... doesn't that 'top' menu bar with the basic Windows min/restore/max buttons all come from 'Windows' ??? and is not basically handled by Firefox?

A screen-shot to have everybody working on the same-page would probably be best...

And no, themes do not only change background color.

The menu bar from the option customise toolbars and selected to show menu bar. I do not think its a windows menu bar.

I cannot find a screen shot option and do not have a web site to use a url.

Reduce them to around 600 x 500 or so in your favourite image editor, (remove any personal info.)
& upload them to eg: > Photobucket.

Open the image by clicking on it.
On the RHS, there are a few options. "Links to share this photo."
Choose the [img] link at the bottom & it will be copied to the clipboard.

Paste that link in here.

Its a windows control that can change this but in windows 10 its well hidden but I have found it and I can change the menu font size.
By by testing I have now come up with a compromise that gives a menu that I can read in firefox but does not make all the other windows menus stupidly large & bold.
Quite why its so small in Firefox as against Word or Excel Or Outlook menu bars with same font size settings settings is strange.

Seeing as this turned out to not be a Firefox problem, it's getting moved to the Tech. Forum...
