I hope I am OK posting about Fossamail in the Thunderbird forum, if not please delete this post.
I just wondered how many people here have or do use Fossamail and what they think of it.
I've heard that Thunderbird isn't going to be developed and wondered if Fossamail is worth a try.

Re: Fossamail
You heard wrong . Thunderbird is still a Mozilla project, but new development and bug fixing is now being done by the community instead of by Mozilla. See http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... 9&t=366405 and http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... &t=2976617 for more information.

In fact we're kicking ass on the development front.FFman wrote:Thanks very much for that tanstaafl, that's good to know.
As for shipping, I just built 38.6.0 last week. This week we build another version 45 beta.

Re: Fossamail
I recently panicked after hearing Thunderbird was being abandoned and switched to Fossamail. Now I know this to be untrue, could you please tell me if it is possible to Import my profile/address book from Fossamail back into Thunderbird? Fossamail has a separate program which imports Thunderbird profiles into it. Is there an equivalent program that will import profiles back into Thunderbird from Fossamail?
Thanks

Re: Fossamail
Not that I'm aware of. Try moving it normally per http://kb.mozillazine.org/Moving_your_p ... hunderbird . I suspect Fossamail just uses it own copy of profiles.ini and a different default profiles directory to keep thier profiles separate, and the same files are used in profiles. If that doesn't work only then would I import folders using the ImportExportTools add-on (see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Importing_folders ) and copy address books per http://kb.mozillazine.org/Moving_addres ... n_profiles

Re: Fossamail
Problem solved in a round about way. I had already setup my 2 accounts and my wife's 2 accounts in Thunderbird, but was concerned about loosing the address books especially my wife's. All I had to do was export the Fossamail address book in LDIF format and import it into Thunderbird. Don't know why I didn't do that in the first place. DOH!
