"only to be silenced by Mozilla's PR team" - and they wonder why they fails or why many great people left them or were kicked off (oh, forgot - they "left" by themselves)...

I'm using antivirus (Avira free version) without any additional bloat (except uninstallable now integrated Avira Launcher...) like extension for browsers etc., which are known for causing many problems, even crashing or preventing browsers from starting,
but using Microsoft antivirus, which isn't a proper alternative, isn't a very good idea, as it has very poor detection rates in everything,
better thing will be using files/folders/discs scanner only not in real time,
but I'm wonder about bad shady scripts on some prank sites, which antivirus kinda helped me killed them in onbeforeunload crazy madness.

Don't forget that Robert O'Callahan said
antivirus software vendors are terrible; don't buy antivirus software, and uininstall it if you already have it (except, on Windows, for Microsoft's).
just use the free ones, no need to play as you get the same thing in most cases, except technical support which isn't needed :vamp:

Robert O'Callahan also updated his blog
Update (Perhaps it should go without saying --- but you also need to your OS to be up-to-date. If you're on Windows 7 or, God forbid, Windows XP, third party AV software might make you slightly less doomed.)

I've used ESET NOD32 AV since Win 98, and unless it goes pear-shaped I'll happily PAY to renew x 3 in a couple of months.
Opinions are like ********, everyone has one :)

You misunderstand your own ignorance. AV is my single biggest impediment to shipping a secure browser.
Antivirus software is insecure buggy garbage.

I'm happy with just Windows Defender on my rarely used Windows 10 notebook. :D
Linux Desktop - AMD Athlon(tm) II X3 455 3.3GHz | 8.0GB RAM | GeForce GT 630
Windows Notebook - AMD A8 7410 2.2GHz | 6.0GB RAM | AMD Radeon R5
