For me, in the Netherlands, ICQ (I don't remember my #) and not much later MSN (that one might still work?) were the messengers of choice.
I'm currently still on IRC (not the same channels), Skype (since '04 I believe), and Discord. Skype certainly isn't as interesting as it once was. Everything does decent voice calls now I suppose, but you can't just switch just like that.

Discord is certainly becoming the next AIM since its host to more than just gaming related communication now.

Who knows. I've thought the same thing about IRC and Newsgroups. And yet there are still places that uses those.

i used to use Newsgroups a lot back in early 2000 but not now. i do use IRC mainly for Linux related stuff. , i dunno but it looks like Pidgin IM client is Dead, i cant see any real activity going or moving toward the 3.0.0 client that was to come outOmega X wrote:Who knows.
