desktop icons move constantly
My desktop icons have begun to change around and the taskbar gets thicker and thicker. The only thing i can remember installing recently is the firefox update, thus i suspect it.
Anyone else having this problem?

.
Sounds like either an OS issue or malware.

I'd been assuming it was an operating system error, but best i can tell my OS has not updated for a couple of weeks and this just started 3-4 days ago.

I've run Malware Bytes, Adaware, and my normal virus checker Avast. Nothing.

I know nothing about WIN. On Mac you can reset the Finder which controls the Desktop. Is there a similar thing in WIN?

Has that computer been rebooted since this issue was noted?

I'm not sure if it would work, but you could try rebuilding the icon cache.
Also, I did some searching and it could be the display drivers need updating if you have updated Windows to the "Creators" version.
Moving this to Tech since it's not a Firefox issue.

I don't know what the creators version is but this began sometime after what I think was the last Windows update.Dartman wrote:I'm not sure if it would work, but you could try rebuilding the icon cache.

I found the comment about the video drivers too. I'm using the video drivers on the motherboard

That would likely be the "Creators" version. See if those drivers need updates.

Did you try resetting the icon cache or updating your drivers?
