Windows 10 captures FF send mail option

Post by ineuw »

This seems to me a recent update to Windows 10 related to emailing a weblink from the browser. It demands my Google account and I don't want to sign in to Microsoft to get to gMail. How can I disable this in Windows?

Sorry, how would Microsoft have to do with signing into your Gmail account? What is the text of the displayed message?

I took a screenshot. How can I upload it? The "Email a link to this page" icon on my address bar or the File \"Email link," activates a message in the center of an opaque background demanding that I must provide MS my Google login credentials get to my gmail account, which I refuse to do. There are choices for other online accounts like Live Mail, Yahoo, etc. I can access gmail directly from a bookmark and can copy and paste the link. But scanning the software for viruses is the prudent first step to take.

See this link for posting a screen shot -- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Posting_a_scr ... _the_forum

Moving to MozillaZine Tech as this is not a Firefox Support issue.

Please note that the background is not from my desktop, it was part of the message http://www.picfront.org/d/9Qw5

I tracked down the source. It comes from the user email settings. But how does that capture my emailing a link from Firefox?

That's because you are using web mail. The default app setting would normally point to an email client like Thunderbird. Instead you are asking Windows to launch a web mail site.

Thanks. It's interesting that they are just clamping down. Before last week signing in was not required.
