Apparently it was a big thing and rapid backlash caused them to reword their "definitive" intentions:

Worse case perhaps somebody will make it easy to port ad-blocking lists to Privoxy.

Maybe Microsoft's joining Chromium will provide a counterbalance to Google? Yes, MS use ads, but are nowhere near as dependent on the ad model.
