Recently I installed W10 (long story why I moved recently from W7 to W10) setted up everything as in my previous W7 and installed VLC 3.0.8.

For now I played mkv videos and everything is fine.

Yesterday I got myself a hold of one domestic movie in mp4 container and it started to drop frames (in settings I always disable frame dropping and late frames). Even audio is around 200ms faster than video. Checked with errors verbosity 2, and it was showing only that it was dropping frames.

Started same file in Windows player and it works fine.

Tested with hardware output option DX11, DX9, OpenGL, Automatic, nothing worked. Increased bufering and so on, but nothing.

I installed back 2.2.4 VLC (which I had in W7) and same file works normally.

Hi Necronomicon,
I had a similar problem with VLC v3.0.8.

Not too sure if it was down to the video content (which I've been D/L'ing for years from a security site) or that version of VLC.

I un-installed it & installed an older version that I always keep handy.

Seems to work a tad better but I suspect the new codecs that they installed with the new version.
Dunno.

Hi MG,
I should've added a tad more...
That security video (any TWiT.TV or Security Now video), plays just fine with the volume not going up 'n' down in any other player.
WMP/MPC etc...
It just does it in VLC v3.0.8.

(NB: It's not too bad but a few episodes ago, it actually crashed the VLC player. Stopped it dead as after nearly blowing the spks up...
I had to go into Realtek HD Audio Manager in Control panel & check/test things out. Got it functioning O.K.)

Here's 2 to check...

> https://twit.tv/shows/security-now/epis ... tart=false

I only ever D/L the "SD Video Small" versions & never had any problems with them for years.

I thought it might have been the video content/type or maybe "they" changed the way or their equipment, recorded it.
Seems strange that it just suddenly started about 3 or 4 weeks ago.
"A virus attack" possibly?
Dunno.
