Windows Defender updates
I've noticed that last couple days that Defender has been updating every 4 hrs... anyone have any insight why they started doing that ? Its usually 1 or 2 a day...

I better turn my Win10 laptop, which I rarely use, on everyday and let the battery drain keeping it up to date. Then run up the electric bill charging the battery.TheVisitor wrote:I've noticed that last couple days that Defender has been updating every 4 hrs... anyone have any insight why they started doing that ? Do you get notifications after every update? I don't recall ever seeing one.

No, no notifications - I just watch - System & Security - Security & Maintenance ->Maintainance - View Reliability history - you have manually refresh the page as it does not always show immediate updates.WaltS48 wrote:I better turn my Win10 laptop, which I rarely use, on everyday and let the battery drain keeping it up to date. Seems complicated - but once you do it a could times its easy. I just use the Windows Key -> Search Security & Maintenance

Re: Windows Defender updates
Have you checked both Defender and Windows Update settings? Microsoft pushes Defender updates through both the Defender app and Windows Update. Microsoft does have the ability to override your update settings on certain occasions (just something to note like if you're hanging onto a soon-to-be EOL'd version of something).TheVisitor wrote:I've noticed that last couple days that Defender has been updating every 4 hrs... anyone have any insight why they started doing that ?
