LibreOffice explain (Solved)

Post by Grumpus »

None of what has transpired makes any sense.
During updates, the FwUPD package allowed an update or an attempted update and damaged the system, modified some bios settings.
This interference caused issues beyond Libre Office and also affected other parts of the system including some games and starting some programs.
So far there appears to be some remaining issues, open delays and multiple start attempts until a package opens..

Comment: As software developers continue to try and expand programs to a perceived (read assumed) need of users instead of keeping them adjustable by the user to fulfill those needs these kinds of issues will continue. With Libre Office it had been easy to remove the spreadsheet, database and some of the other bits and pieces without any issues, it appears that has become history. Dependencies to other operating system may also have contributed to the loss of the distro's version instead of having to find it elsewhere, though the one from outside the OS works fine.

Doesn't matter what you say, it's wrong for a toaster to walk around the house and talk to you
