OK, don't really see anything in C:\...."Program Files" seems important, but you advised me not to look in individual folders, right?

Right. You were just looking for loose files like mydog.jpg or omg!iwilldiewithoutthis.doc Next examime the folder names and make sure there aren't any folders you have have created yoursel which might contain pictures, mp3s and so on. From the sound of things you've got it all in My Documents but just to be of the safe side. If you see a folder like that copy it into D:\Win2K Backup Folders like Windows and Program Files can be ignored.

Great. I have to ask you a question at this point: from what I uderstand, you are using Firefox and Thunderbird in place of IE and Outlook Express, is that so?

Correct...OE isn't even on my system, but IE is installed, just for updates and a few other sites I visit that don't play well with FF...PCPitstop, for example...But I use FF 99.99% of the time...

Okay, but you have some Favorites for PCPitstop and so on. We'll want to back those up. Create a folder called MY Favorites in Win2K Backup, that system properties thing again, and copy yhe contents of your Favorites folder into it.

We are getting there. The next thing you will want to do is get your wallpaper. Go into C:\Windows, find your desktop wallpaper which will have a .bmp extension and copy it into D:\Win2K Backup

We should be reasonably confident that all of your goodies are now backed up. We will forget about the Icons as their file associations won't come with them. Incredibly tedious to do manually. The TNG theme I had you download will take care of that. Next, I want you to do the following:

To enable the viewing of Hidden files follow these steps:

1. Close all programs so that you are at your desktop.
2. Double-click on the My Computer icon.
3. Select the View menu and then click Folder Options.
4. After the new window appears select the View tab.
5. Scroll down until you see the Show all files radio button and select it.
6. Press the Apply button and then the OK button and close the My Computer window.
7. Now your computer is configured to show all hidden files.
