You could try using Process Explorer v11.04 to find out what is being executed.
When a process starts, Process Explorer will add it to the list and highlight it in green. When a process ends it is highlighted in red and then removed. You could run it and sit back and wait see what is being executed. However the console application you are seeing executed may only launch under certain circumstances and it may be kind of challenging to catch while you are going about your normal activities.
There are also other SysInternals applications there that could help you track down the problem.
