Share This Page feature: broken in Firefox 44 or just me?
Hello,
In FF44 I can't use the 'Share this page' feature anymore.
I connected Google+ and Tumblr.
Please advise.

Where does share this page come from?
If it's Google+ or Tumblr it might not be a function of Firefox.
No item in my version of Firefox, from the Ubuntu repository.

The closet thing I see to "Share this page" in Firefox is the "Email link" option under the File menu.

I have to correct my above text - Share this page is listed in the Customize Options so it may be something which could be dragged to the toolbar.
Again, I don't know if this is default or if CTR planted it there, I don't use it.
Check in about:config for this item social.share.activationPanelEnabled if set to false toggle it to true (right click allows the toggle)

Ah, so it is. I've never used that function and had totally forgotten that it was in the Customize palette.Share this page is listed in the Customize Options so it may be something which could be dragged to the toolbar.

It is a (nice) builtin feature, see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/sh ... efox-share
social.share.activationPanelEnabled is true.
social.share.activationPanelEnabled is true.

It works in other Firefox profiles.
With the broken profile in Safe Mode, it connects to Tumblr but not to Google+.
I removed prefs.js but it is still broken.

Probably shouldn't arbitrarily remove some Firefox packages.
You might want to create a new profile read this first before acting - Profile manager

I put prefs.js back. Another mysterious problem last year had been solved by the removal of that file.

Don't do a reset! It's much better to create a new profile. That leaves the old profile in place so you can switch back to that previous version if there is no improvement using the new profile. Also, if the new profile resolves a problem, you can then transfer data from the old profile to the new as described in this article -- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_ ... _-_Firefox

I created a new profile. It seems that the problem can reappear after installation of the NoScript add-on (version 2.9.0.3), at least for Tumblr sharing. Wait and see.

Re: Share This Page feature: broken in Firefox 44 or just me
You should be able to adjust some of NoScript but Tumblr dances around different urls so there's probably going to be an issue sometimes if you blocked or prohibit some functions or sites in the NoScript options.
You always have the option of "allow all this page" with NoScript if you allow the notice bar to pop up and sometimes lengthen the duration of the warning from 5 seconds to 7 seconds.
Take a good look at all the settings in NoScript.

With NoScript enabled but with 'Scripts allowed globally', the feature does not work on the first try, whether it's Google+, Tumblr or Twitter.
But after 3 clicks on a service icon, it seems to work at least in the case of Google+ and twitter.

Re: Share This Page feature: broken in Firefox 44 or just me
Scripts allowed globally is a dangerous setting, should not be enabled as standard practice.
You may want to look at what is trying to load when the warning is shown and work from that list.
You'll see some which can be blocked without loss and others which are necessary like media storage servers (cdn).

NoScript: Firefox Share (seems to be a bug).
Fire 750, bring back 250.
