Flash Plugin doesn't shut down

Post by lovemyfoxy »

I'm on puter #1 in my sig.

I'm running 2 profiles at once. My computer was dragging, and I found that in each profile, Flash wasn't shutting down when videos ended, so they were both running in Task Manager. Closed them down, 1/2 hour later they're running again, but this time no videos were run. :-k

Change Shockwave Flash to: "Ask to activate" in about:addons.

"Flash" doesn't have to be a "video".
It could be a (Flash) ad on a web page (banner or ...)
Fire 750, bring back 250.

Even if I have all ads blocked by UBlockOrigin?

Thanks, Reflective. Will give it a go. But it won't stop Flash from continuing to run after a video is finished.

I don't use the container... as you found out... lots of mem-use associated with it... this doc. lists out ways to stop it from running... I don't remember ... but I don't have the container ever running... but I don't crash either... and that is why they created the container... I don't have that problem...

...anyway, check out this doc. ... though their location of the program was typed wrong... unless I read it wrong... my install of Firefox is here....
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox

...and I guess I removed that program long ago...the info is the last part of this doc.

Found one in FF and one in TB. Is it OK to toss the one in TB also?

I always picture you as being laid-back, like your cat.

I just tested Flash with this link... played fine here...no for you???

https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

Not sure about T.B. Flash... I run all links found in my emails in Firefox.

I don't think TB even uses Flash.

FF Flash won't work with the plugin-container removed. Good try. I have to buy more memory for this puter anyway.

I've taken a survey. Of the 34,487 problems posted here in the past year, 34,485 were about Flash, 1 was about having 67,00 bookmarks, and 1 was about keeping history for 18 years.

Being 65 drained me, and now I'm 70.

IMO, any "gain" made by disabling does not offset the chance that you'll crash your browser when Flash crashes.

Plus...

no date on the article
Mozilla changes fast
what worked a few months ago, may no longer be an appropriate "fix"
i believe - currently - x64 multiprocess uses plugin-container.exe (& that too may change in the future) ...
Fire 750, bring back 250.

I'll check Task Mger now and then to see what's happening.
