New Firefox is not performing well

Post by Nikilet »

Firefox 57.0 32 bit
Windows 10

The new Firefox is not performing very well for me. When launched, it takes a long time for my home page to open, which is FVD Speed Dial. And it performs in a real jerky, stumbling way. It will freeze for a bit and then come around.

Thing is, I couldn't get many things to work at all after the update, so I did a complete uninstall of Firefox and then I re-installed it and all my add-ons. With a lot of messing around I finally got the things that weren't working at all to work, but it's still not operating smoothly at all and since I've already done a completely new install I don't know what to do from here.

When you say you did a 'complete uninstall', did you also manually delete the Firefox folder before reinstalling? That will remove history and settings, which might have been the cause of your difficulties.

FVD is loading real images. export settings of FVD and start a new profile.

This article explains how to selectively transfer Firefox user data and settings to a new Firefox profile

To Vitesse: Yes, I completely removed everything. I used Revo Uninstaller to remove, and then I went in to make sure the folders were gone.

To Dan Raisch: Emsisoft Anti Malware, Malwarebytes and the Windows firewall.

to Brummelchen: I might try your suggestion at another time. I'm not a computer tech and I'm not in the mood to fight the problems I might entail if I can't figure something out or do it wrong.
