I ran into a problem today while working on a web site. I uploaded a revised version of a pdf file to the site. When I went to the site and clicked on the link to download the file, Firefox downloaded the old version of the file, which apparently was stored in the local cache on my computer.
I refreshed the page and Firefox still downloaded the old page. Two hours later, I exited from Firefox and restarted the browser and had the same problem.
Does anyone know how frequently Firefox checks whether or not a cached file has been updated? The current behavior is very confusing.

See here: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.cache ... _frequency This Pref is in about:config - Might try changing the setting to '1'
You could also try forcing a 'reload' and by-pass cache with Ctrl+F5
