Hi,
Window 10, Firefox 96.0.2
When I first open Firefox with one tab, Firefox has 10 or more sub-processes running.
Some use no CPU, but others are consuming a few percent.
For some unknown reasons, Firefox also produces a few Background Processes, which come and go.
Firefox seems to be getting sluggish, doing nothing in particular.
Why are there so many processes running ?
Thanks in advance.

Does the same thing happen if you launch the application in Mozilla Trouble Shooting Mode? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/di ... shoot-mode

fission.autostart = true.
Disabled = Allow Firefox to send technical and interaction data to Mozilla
Disabled = Allow Firefox to install and run studies

Re: Firefox 96, Lots Of Sub-Processes
After reading this article, I don't think I would want to disable Fission:

The extra processes seem to be there for a good reason.

@Ed1
Most users on the release build have the fission pref disabled.
Enable Fission pref by default in Firefox 97

I dislike being a guinea pig so I disallow running studies.
Tools > Settings > Privacy & Security > Firefox Data Collection and Use
[uncheck] Allow Firefox to install and run studies

Re: Firefox 96, Lots Of Sub-Processes
I have one computer with Firefox 96.0.2 release and another with Firefox 97 beta 6. Fission autostart preference is TRUE on both. Not sure if I changed it manually on Firefox 96.
I have set Data Collection and Use OFF and Install and Run Studies OFF on both.
Fission seems like a good idea (unless I am missing something), so I am happy with these settings.
