Block pop-up

My standard pop-blockers are working very nicely overall.
However, some savvy programmers have figured out a way to get pop-up ads to make their way into my screen even when the screen has been maximized! For years, once I had maximized my screen that meant the death knell for pop-ups. But the programmers have been hard at work and figured out how to bypass that restriction. Any ideas how I can block these? SPAR is the company that is advertising. Last edited by MozillaMonkey on July 3rd, 2022, 10:56 am, edited 1 time in total.
![]() Would probably be much easier to identify options if we could see what you are speaking about. Any example URLs?
I just made a screen shot so you can see, but I don't know how to attach the file?
The pop-up takes up a huge chunk of real estate. Left column and bottom of screen.
I'm not sure how this will help, but here is an example: https://imgur.com/a/j3jM8lU ![]() The more important part of my question was about which URL (or URLs) you were visiting when the pop-up appears.
Oh OK, sorry. I won't be able to get the address until tomorrow. These are live feeds and there are different addresses. I have to get the right one. ![]() OK here is the URL:
cdn.livetv555.me/webplayer.php?t=ifr&c=1883468&lang=en&eid=62916563&lid=1883468&ci=3850&si=4 Some of what you may thinik are popups are actually "overlays" and might not be treated the same as popups. Some claim to block popups and overlays -- you will need to determine which works best for your surfing.
https://www.google.com/search?q=firefox ... ker+addons I've been using this one for some time. It is not automatic -- you must click the toolbar icon when you think the page invoked an overlay -- they are usually sales messages or "Join" etc. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... e_overlay/ This page: https://sparinc.com/ has a slide-in from the right after about 5 seconds. Using the addon "behind the overlay" above it will remove it. To re-demo you may have to clear your cache and re-execute the link. My parents moved when I was 5. I found them in California when I was 9.
I tested that site and did not see any pop-ups, disables uBO (microBlockOrigin) and saw an ad banner in the upper right corner for crypto betting or something of that nature, re-enabled
uBO and it went away. So that said maybe your check out uBO, its fairly non-intrusive and seems to do a good job without a lot of tweaking.
