How to update ONLY ONE AddOn (out of 15)?

Post by thoste »

Assume I have installed 15 AddOns.
I disabled the option "Updates AddOns automatically"
Then I click on "Check for Updates" and Updates for 5 AddOns were found.

How can I update ONLY ONE Addon "AAAsample" out of these 5?

All remaining AddOns should be kept active but at their current version.

Visit the home page of the desired extension and right click on the link then select "Download link" which should allow you to save the file to the local computer. Then, in Firefox, under Tools->Addons and Themes, click on the Gear icon to find the option to "Install Addon from file".

You can update a single addon using the three dot more options button.

e.g. Menu Bar > Tools > Addons > Available Updates > uBlock Origin > ... > Update

You can test the feature by manually installing an old version.

I click into the specific extension and check whether any Release Notes are available before updating. Then I can update from the ... menu (it has a blue alert/notification dot).

@morat: You wrote

Menu Bar > Tools > Addons > Available Updates > uBlock Origin > ... > Update

Here is NO "Available Updates" link (in gear button).

Furthermore I need a way WITHOUT uBlock origin

@jscher2000:
The release Notes for the AddOn in focus show NO newer release although there is one.
I guess I have to allow automatic AddOn updates to see new reelase Nodes. But I don't want that

Have you tried downloading the file and installing from the local drive?

You can see the blue alert/notification dot in the red circle in the following screenshot.

Here is how I can show the blue alert/notification dot and click the "Update" menu item for the Tomato Clock addon.

* restart Firefox
* open "Extensions" panel in about:addons tab
* click "Check for Updates" menu item in gear button popup
* notice blue alert/notification dot that shows an update is available
* click "Update" menu item in three dot more options button popup for Tomato Clock addon

You won't see a blue alert/notification dot if none of your addons need an update or if you can't connect to the update server.

Some authors do not provide release notes; it's not mandatory when submitting updates to the add-ons site. But if they do provide release notes, you definitely see them without having to allow automatic updates. And you still choose when to install the update even if there are no release notes.

Yet another way: open the add-on's page in Add-ons Manager > scroll down on the Details tab > click 'Check for updates'.
