So I've been using firefox for a while, but recently bought a new computer that came with onboard surround sound. Previously I had a Craetive card that had software to upmix all stereo sound to whatever you needed. But now, the Realtek software doesn't have that same feature.. although stereo music mixes up to 5.1 but sound from firefox doesn't - So Pandora or anything like that only come out in 2 channel sound. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Firefox does not output anything to sound, other than the 'bing' when Quick Find cannot find the text you are looking for.
It's the media plugins that play the sound. You'll need to look for the options in your media player plugin software or your sound card drivers.

I solved the problem for my Creative audio board .If you want to fix it too, follow the next steps:
1- Uninstall Adobe flash player from your computer with the uninstaller from adobe webpage and clean all the registry with CCleaner and System Ninja
2- install the firefox addon YouTube Flash Video Player by Baris Derin https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... eo-player/
3- go to " http://www.adobe.com/in/products/flashp ... tion3.html and download Flash Player 188.8.131.52 for Firefox and Netscape Plug-In compatible applications – NPAPI . Install it
4- go to "https://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/debug_downloads.html " and download the Flash Player content debugger for Firefox - NPAPI and download the Flash Player projector content debugger . Install it
5- Install Adobe shockwave player and Microsoft Silverlight
6- Go to addons/pluggins and set allways activate option for shockwave and silverlight ,in the right side.
Go to youtube and ebjoy 5.1 sound
Youtube uses HTML5 player by default when possible instead of Flash Player now. Also the Shockwave (for director) player and Microsoft Silverlight Plugins are not used on Youtube and the separate Shockwave (for director) player is not needed for Flash Player videos to work as some may think.
Also this was a old thread from Jan 2009. Locking.
