Firefox locks up

Re: Firefox locks up
I too am having the same problem. It started with IE so I deleted IE7 on my system and was using IE6 and the problem seemed to have gone away. However, IE6 is not the greatest browser to use so I installed IE8. The problem started again. So I started using Firefox and it too locked up after a while. Could this have to do with the page tabs... with all the information coming in for each page maybe something is getting hung up? I may go back to IE6. Has anyone found a solution yet?

Re: Firefox locks up
If you are having the same type of problem with multiple browser it is not a problem with the software but may point to a problem with your system memory or hard drive or the system may be infected with malware.
Install and run these programs.

Re: Firefox locks up
Just an observation.... I am running XP, and firefox freezes up with the same symptoms... but I did notice that the freeze only occurs when my wireless network drops out... then all the pages I have go blank and I have to end program.

Re: Firefox locks up
I think you probably have a different problem and should start a new topic to ensure you get the support you require.

Posted by Cougernz on another site in reference to lock up
Turned off SUPERAntispy and it still locked up, turned off ZoneAlarm (turned on Windows firewall of cause), still locked up
Last was Avast Anti Virus.
That is built around modules , I found one called Web, deactivated that
Problem has gone away !
However not wanting to have to use a anti virus service that is partly deactivated I have now replaced it with AVG
Avast worked well for me when I had XP, dont know if Avast has changed how it works or if is a issue with
the way Vista works

Re: Firefox locks up
Malware has invaded our machines! Too many people, on too many different systems, running too many different browsers, trying all sorts of solutions! This or that works for a while but no one thing seems to be the problem. I believe it has to be some rootkit at work here. I do not have the solution yet, but I suspect a rootkit problem.

Re: Firefox locks up
Has anyone found any solutions to these issues at all? I am running a Dell laptop at work with XP, and I started experiencing the same exact issues this morning. Yesterday, my machine was fast and normal. This AM, I come in and FF locks up my sysytem to the point where the ONLY thing I can do is a hard reboot. I uninstalled FF and ran IE - same exact thing happens. My system and everyother app and piece of software works perfectly fine when I am not on FF or IE. Has anyone out there figured out ANY solutions?
I'm curious to see how other posters worked out everything?
