FWIW:
In my own case a brand new profile with the default add-ons and plugins opens much faster upon PC reboot. Down to 30 seconds from the usual 1.5 minutes upon PC reboot. This is the case when in regular mode with no plugins disabled.
This is the second such profile I've created to try and troubleshoot this.
Seems as I continue to customize the new profile, it gets boggier and takes longer to launch Firefox. Or perhaps it sort of gets "corrupted" with increasing usage?

Re: Firefox 3.5 Final Opens Very Slowly
My FF 3.5 also starts slow, plus......I get this Alert message every time I click on my FF icon:
"The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading". I have to click on the home page icon to see my actual home page. Very weird. I don't know how to correct this.
This only happened after I updated to 3.5 FF. Any ideas?

Different problem helijack. Please start a new thread.
Same with you eliuri. Your problem is likely caused by an extension.
Locking this. It is becoming a catch all. I'll do a round of solutions to this problem tomorrow.

Re: Firefox 3.5 Final Opens Very Slowly
First, delete the temporary internet files in I.E.
If that does not work or if it only partially, run ccleaner. http://www.ccleaner.com/ . One note, CCleaner will want to install the Yahoo toolbar. If you don't want this make sure you tell the installer not to install it.
This seems to have solved most of the problems. If it does not solve your problem and you have Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant 1.1 as an extension, try uninstalling it.
If you are still having problems start a new thread noting that you have tried all of the above. Please note we are talking about abnormally long start up times.
A bug has been filed.

Re: Firefox 3.5 Final Opens Very Slowly
Another work around was posted in the bug. Thank to Nelson Bolyard
One more item. The Firefox developers are working on this. Search for bug # 501605. Please do not post to that bug unless you can truly add to the solution.
Since that Mozillazine topic/thread is now "locked" (no more postings are
being accepted) I cannot post a workaround there, so I'll post it here.
Windows let's the user control the maximum amount of disk space used for
the "Temporary Internet Files". The default setting is extremely generous.
On my old 250GB drive, it was over 8GB. Setting it down to say 100MB or
200MB should REALLY help reduce the sheer number of files to be scanned.
To adjust that, go to Control Panel, Internet Options, General Tab.
Under the Temporary Internet Files heading, click the "Settings" button.
Change the number under "Amount of disk space to use" to 100 or 200.
Click OK. Then, back in the Internet Options, General tab, under the
Temporary Internet Files heading, click the "Delete Files" button.
Put a check in the box that says "Delete all offline content". Click OK.
Click OK to dismiss the Internet Options panel.
