Firefox process won't end when I "X" the window ou

When I am surfing the web and I decide to close the browser, the Firefox process doesn't end. When I try to open the browser again it will not open until I end the Firefox process in task manager and click the Firefox shortcut again. Is there any way to fix this problem? It's becoming a hassle to deal with. Thanks!

Are you using a profile from an earlier version of Firefox with a newer version of Firefox? I think this may be the most common cause of this problem.

Create a new Firefox profile (with a unique name) and copy over essential files (bookmarks.html etc.) to the new profile (with Firefox closed):

Just a thought before going the "create a new profile" route...

Does Firefox process end completly when you close Firefox by: File->Quit

Well I created the new profile before looking to see if File>Quit would work but creating of the profile seemed to have worked, and fixed a few other problems
