gmail cookie problem

Post by offisead »

although set to enable cookies, gmail wont open on my xp desktop.
in any other username, no problem, but on my own desktop, i get an error telling me my browser is set to block cookies. it is only the gmail cookie being blocked, as other webmail accounts work fine.

First, check your cookie settings. Go to Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies.

Is Allow sites to set cookies checked? What about for the originating sites only? The second one should be unchecked by default, as having it checked can sometimes cause some sites to not work.

Check the Exceptions button. Are any Google/Gmail sites listed in there?

If everything checks out, then it should work. Try going to https://gmail.google.com/ instead of http://gmail.google.com/

thankyou for taking the trouble...
after sleeping on the problem, i reckon its the fact that gmail sets a two week cookie, and clearing all cookies, which i did on the way to trying to figure this out, means i cant have another delicious cookie until the last [deleted!] one runs out.
so, another desktop to access until my time for bad behaviour is up.
thanks again.
