Recent changeover from IE? New extension/s? IE open for other purposes recently? Any recent downloads? Maybe hijacked/spyware??

Sounds like you're getting hijacked. This would be caused by spyware. Spyware can be found and removed (and even blocked* from infecting you in the future) by following excellent free software:

Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.3 *)
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html

Ad-Aware SE Personal 1.05
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

CWShredder 2.1 (Choose standalone install!)
http://www.intermute.com/spysubtract/cw ... nload.html

SpywareBlaster 3.2 *)
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

Another proggie to try is Hijackthis but it's not automated unlike the programs above.

It redirects your browser to other websites, quite often pornographic ones. A pain, but even worse is that often the sites have additional spyware to download (probably won't occur if you're using Firefox!), and you don't know what else the spyware that caused the original problem is doing. Follow the guy's advice and download ALL of the recommended software, update it, and run ALL of the software he advises. Then avoid using IE if at all possible!

Um, isn't the site you're being redirected to a Linux site? Are you using that OS? Maybe it's your default homepage!
