Question about Mozbackup.

Post by English Teacher »

Hi,

I have some backups made with Mozbackup from two computers. I would like to merge them into one profile because there are things in one profile which aren't in another. Is this possible???

If yes, can you explain what I must do. If not does anybody have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
It's a matter of what you want to "merge/transfer".
See this KB article on what's in the Profile etc & how to transfer it..

(Always choose the "Custom" Install.)

Thanks,

What I want to try is to merge the "pcv" files created by Mozbackup. If this isn't possible then to try and import them into one profile. As stated there are things in one profile from a computer, which I need for this one. However, if I just do the restore of one pcv file, I can't access the data from the other.
When I do the backups everything that is highlighted is checked from Passwords to settings!!

I'm going to move this to Firefox Support.

I know you can open the pcv file with any unzipping program. It is just a zipped file with a different file extension. You should be able to then merge the profiles, but I'll leave that to the Firefox experts. I usually support Thunderbird.

there could be a simple solution or not depending on what the mysterious things are

The "things" are passwords, settings, toolbars etc. ... so in short just the options chosen.
Both the computers had the same security settings so there is no conflict there.

The main one I want or rather need to merge are the passwords. But if possible any of the other settings as well.

Hello,
A friend of mine backed up important data with mozbackup and cannot remember the password he used. He thought he had not used any password and tried all the ones he usually uses but none work.
I converted the PCV file to a ZIP file but that does not help. Is there a way to reset or delete the password and open the ZIP file?
Thank you much.
