Don't follow the above advice. It is destructive and a waste of time.

jZip avoid like the plague. Couldn't start laptop except in safe mode and then restarting and eventually ....up and running. Tried to access my web page but commandeered the search. Nothing but trouble until that is I logged into this page. Used a free version of Revo Uninstaller (Advice from "squeaky")that guided me through the registry entries. Then thoroughly searched for any remnants and finding more, deleted these and then the helpful guidance from Gingerbread Man sorted the search bar.
Decided to enroll just to thank the heroes above, well done!!!!

How frustrating. I wasted a lot of time and then found this thread. I followed the steps suggested by Gingerbread Man and they worked. Thanks!

- Open Windows Explorer, then the C:\Program Files\ folder, then the Windows jZip Toolbar folder.
- Double-click the uninstall icon.
- Delete the Windows jZip Toolbar folder.
- In Firefox, open the Tools menu and choose Add-ons, then Extensions.
- Select the jZip Toolbar entry if it's there and click the Uninstall button.
- Type about:config in the address bar and press Enter.
- Press the big button to bypass the warning.
- In the Filter bar, type jzip

As a WinZip alternative, I recommend either
- WinRAR, which has a user-friendly interface and supports themes, but is shareware requiring a one-time fee to register.
- 7-Zip, which has an ugly interface but is completely free.
As an additional bit of trivia, the offending toolbar is provided by Discordia Limited, the company most known for hijacking the domain name of the file-sharing application Shareaza and using it to distribute a fake version loaded with malware. I recall that when it was initially launched, jZip was indeed a clean application as its front page still claims. I wonder if it suffered the same fate
Excellent, thanks for the help, "jzip" are so sly

Since GB gave the correct solution early on (Here: viewtopic.php?p=10621697#p10621697 ) I am going to lock this before the solution gets buried to deep.
