Breaking news! Synaptics new driver works with Mozilla!

Post by christos »

Hi all,

I think this is indeed breaking news! Synaptics has put out a new driver version (8.0.6) that seems to be compliant with Mozilla products again.

Here's the link to the "Download drivers" web page from Synaptics:

http://www.synaptics.com/support/drive.cfm

WFM for the following products (WinXP Home Ver 2002, SP2):
(1) Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8 ) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4
(2) Thunderbird, version 1.0.2 (20050317)
(3) Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8 ) Gecko/20050511 (SeaMonkey)

Thought I should share the joy! ;-)

Thanks for the link, this was definitely a driver problem with 7.12.7 from HP's website.

The 8.1.2 driver from Synaptics works great.

Thanks christos!

Does anyone know how to disable side-scrolling in Firefox on Mac OSX Tiger? I would like the vertical scrolling to remain enabled, but the horizontal scrolling disabled. Is this possible?

I just bought a Comaq Presario laptop with 64 bit AMD Turion processor and XP home. It too has the Synaptics touchpad which I enabled scrolling on. The scrolling works in all apps except Firefox where when I scrub in the vertical scroll area, a small icon with up and down arrows and a cursor appears but the display does not scroll. I have tried all combinations of the touchpad setup and Firefox options; nothing appears to work.

I have Synaptics driver ver. 7.13.0.1

mec40404: Use the latest driver
Did you look at the trouble shooting page
You can try the OEM page

Did you look at your settings in about:config from this post: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... 61#2032661
More info on about:config here (do a search for mousewheel): http://preferential.mozdev.org/preferences.html
