Hi,
A nice bit of feedback from Jason Duell, a Firefox developer, in this thread...
> viewtopic.php?p=11331581#p11331581
As LoudNoise stated, they know about it & are working on it.

I have had the problem of pages only half loading since Firefox 6 and now in 7.0.1 as well.

Network.http.max-connections was set to 32 (instead of 48 or 256). I suspect it was set to 32 by optimising Firefox using Advanced SystemCare 4 (Internet Booster).

Set connections to 48 and it seems to have solved the problem.

Thanks for all the suggestions and answers on this site.

Hi Guys, been following your threads as trying to drag an old tablet pc into this century.

after upgrading to XP Pro SP3 I installed new FF, all went OK, then to keep kids happy installed Download Accelerator Plus and Speed Bit. After this FF began to lock up, which is what led me to this thread, and eventually would not load.

Strangely IE worked but there was a brief message popped up that a program had tried to reset the IE proxy settings and IE would reset defaults. The message then disappeared and then the system locked only a hard reboot would work.

Deleted Speed Bit and DAP and then system and FF work as normal. Maybe there is some conflict on older PC's.

Just ran Malwarebytes and found Trojan (.BHQ) linked to toolbars Seedbit Video Toolbar ?

Hope this may be of use

1) In the address bar, type about:config
2) If it shows up, click on I'll be careful
3) Filter for network.http.max-connections.
4) Change this from 256 to 48.
5) Restart Firefox.

Thanks to the guest who originally posted this.

edit: If you post to this thread can you also tell us if you have a fast (cable DSL) or slow connection.

This setting has nothing to do with the speed of DSL/Cable.

its a problem with Routers/Modems and some NIC Drivers, and opening an excessive amount of HTTP connections. P2P/Torrent apps have had similar issues with spamming open connections. In this regards, matching Chrome is just stupid, it should default Low and be an advanced setting for those who know their hardware can handle higher.

Theres also the high risk of a server blocking your ip due to http spamming. (happens alot on lower end hosts)

squall_leonhart wrote:The default setting for this is not more then 30 anyway, why is it at 256?

The default setting was 30 until Firefox 6.0 when it was changed to 256.

For reading:
Bug 648570 - increase total idle pconn tool to 256 (matches chrome)
Bug 692260 - Increase in network.http.max-connections appears to cause hang, requires browser restart

Hello is anyone noticing slow download speed, and upload also? I have firefox 7.01, and have uninstalled speedbit video accelerator, and I can use firefox without changing anything in about:config, but pages still seem to load slow! I have also noticed slow download, and upload speed now matter what I try :-/ When I turn pipelining on and set to 10 it helps load pages faster, but nothing will help my slow download and upload speed with firefox 7 anything I can try to help, or everyone has this problem? please let me know! Note: Before I uninstalled speedbit. I noticed when you set http keep alive to false and proxy also it speeds up without uninstalling speedbit video accelerator, and editing max connections total to 48 or lower or higher or anything for that matter just turning off keep alive and it loads just fine with speedbit installed! If you want to keep it. "it is useful!" Also note I dont use speedbit because it causes iTunes store not to load, and iTunesU also weird bug. So anyone with iTunes try uninstalling it helps. just a tip :)

Not sure why you figure 31 is the magic number when it has been agreed that 48 and even the previous number 30 is the best to use.
