HEY GUYS! once you do all this the most important thing of all is to go to: Tools - Options - Advanced - Browsing - UNCHECK: "Use hardware acceleration when available" THIS REALLY MAKES A DIFFERENCE... feels like FF 3.5 AGAIN!!!
I can tell you it works for me also. I had a total reload of FF done and reinstalled from scratch and mn=nothing worked until I unchecked the "Use hardware acceleration when available"
FF 7 rolls with no hanging or slow speeds.
SOLVED: Firefox 7 is extremely slow...

This is the REAL problem - not my work, from another website.
Something to do with address bar trimming - get rid of it!
Users can revert to the old behavior by setting browser.urlbar.trimURLs to false in about:config.
To change this preference:
type about:config in the Location/URL bar and press Enter.
if you see a warning, accept (promise to be careful)
Filter: browser.urlbar.trimURLs
in lower panel, double-click that item to toggle value to false
Exit and restart
All fixed!
