Firefox 12 goes to bottom of web page
Hi,
I just updated to firefox 12. When I go to several web sites, firefox goes to the bottom of the web page. I uninstalled and reinstalled firefox 12 and cleared the cache but I still get the same behavior. What would cause this behavior? One of the websites where this is happening is: http://www.marketwatch.com. This didn't start happening until I upgraded to firefox 12. Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated
Thanks,
Mark

You can start Firefox in Safe mode to check if your problem is caused by an extension or theme (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_Mode
If starting in Safe-mode works then disable your extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or use the option in the Safe-mode window) and re-enable them one by one until you find which one is causing it.
Close and restart Firefox after each change.

Hi DIck,
I disabled all add-ons and started it in safe mode, but the same thing is happening. I am open to suggestions.

I went to that site with no such behavior. FF12 stayed at the top of the page. So, it seems like it's some setting, add-on, or something causing it other than FF12 in and of itself.

What FF version are you updating from? Shooting straight-up from FF 3.6 can create strange issues with your existing profile.
Might wanna try using a new profile (w/ the old one backed-up) to if it's an issue. Updating from 3.6 or not, this could still be a problem attributed to an old profile.

I just wanted to say that I've been keeping up with all the firefox updates and I just recently updated to Firefox 12, now I'm experiencing the same behavior where some pages get loaded, then firefox goes to the bottom of the page. For example http://www.newegg.com/

I am glad it is not just me. I have deleted and reinstalled everything only to experience the same behavior on some web pages. Did you do anything to the problem?

This is happening to also. I have two machines (one win 7 64-bit, one win 7 32-bit) but it only happens on the 32-bit machine. And then only on 1 site so far (for me it's http://www.theglobeandmail.com/). It's really annoying.

Tried both of those sites and no problem here. FF12 on Win 7 Pro 64bit. Even turned off Adblock Plus to see if some ad or javascript or something was forcing focus to the bottom.

To users meeting this issue, are you using the hosts file in Windows to block some domains like ads?

I don't use a host file but I do use a script that runs on my firewall (which runs Tomato) to block advertisements and other bad stuff

@ancodia:
Can you turn off this script (and other ad blockers) temporarily and make a try, please?
In fact, there is a regression with subframes in FF12 and so maybe you're meeting this issue.

Yup, it because of ad blocking with hosts file. I've never noticed it before FF12 as I never tested it. But using Noscript blocks this kind of behavior as well.
It doesn't happen with IE9.
