since update to ff 14.0.1, links sent to ff steal focus

howdy y'all,

just updated to ff 14.0.1 and now i am again seeing focus stealing when a link is sent to firefox. for instance, when i click on a link in tbird the focus now switches to firefox. that is not how it was before the update.

when the last update to flash came out, this also happened. with help from the forum folks here, i was able to track it down to flash and simply disabled flash to fix the problem. flash is _still_ disabled, but now that ff has updated to the problem has returned.

problem also happens in mozilla safe mode.

what is the setting to cause ff to NOT take focus when a new link is sent to it from an external source? i can't remember what it is ... [*blush*]

saw that. you found a thing that i didn't see.

firefox gets the link & loads it into a background tab as expected. the focus, however, goes "elsewhere". it is NOT going to the desktop or to the system menus.

when chrome is set as default, it gets the focus properly. that's expected. when the system default browser is set back to firefox, tho, the same "focus goes wandering into never-never land" effect happens.

[*sigh ...*] i am so freaking confused.

this looks _very_ much like the flash problem. however, flash is very definitely disabled.

still having this problem in ff16.0.1. as KWierso pointed out, it seems to happen ONLY if you have ...

... set to TRUE. the default is FALSE and the problem goes away when ff is configured that way.

judging from comment 9, the problem does not occur in the 2012-10-12 nightly ff and tb versions. i wonder, should i post to one of the builds threads about this?
