Firefox previous searches- clock symbol

Post by tjackie »

When I go to firefox and go to search and start typing in letters, it brings up past searches that I've done. But, to the left of each past search, there's a clock icon that appears to be pointing to 3 o'clock.

I've never seen this before when I used firefox and I don't see this clock icon if I use internet explorer or chrome. Does anybody know what this symbol means and how do I get rid of it?

I've never seen it before and I don't know what I did to make it appear and I just wanted to confirm this is normal and not some malware which is tracking what I search for.

Thanks.

"When you perform a search, the list will display both search suggestions (if activated) from the default search engine, as well as matching terms from your search history (if enabled). The search history icon Image distinguishes your previous searches from search suggestions:"

... as well as matching terms from your search history (if enabled).
Where is the setting to enable (or rather, disable) this (without disabling engine suggestions)?
