Safari/FireFox problem

Post by JackOats »

Hi All

I just changed my browser from Safari to Firefox, on my iMac.

I have set Google as my home page.

But when it fires up some of the Text boxes only display the top half of the words.

Could anyone suggest what the problem - and solution - might be, please?

Many thanks.

Maybe this screenshot could help - if I have done it right!

Have you tried starting Firefox in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode

See this information to understand how to post a screen shot if that is still necessary -- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Posting_a_scr ... _the_forum

Hi Dan

Thanks for the reply

Have you tried starting Firefox in Mozilla Safe Mode?

Yes, I did try that - but no change.

r.e. uploading an image:

I have taken a screenshot/changed it into a .jpg/ lodged it on Flickr & got it's URL - but putting the correct code between
is where I am failing at the moment!

Just post the URL link in your reply. We don't need the tags.

Appears it should be, https://www.flickr.com/photos/jackoats_firefox.jpg, but even at that, it's not valid.
And it appears that they obscure their direct links, so seemingly that would not be it either.

From what I'm seeing, a "direct" link would look something like this, kind of style:

Code: Select all

Here's the URL for the page with the original-size image:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/jackoats/17716389660/sizes/o/

It looks very zoomed. Zoom info

I don't know whether a high-DPI Mac needs special settings to look right.

Well if the Safe Mode suggestion yields nothing, then it might have to do with screen resolution or scaling or something along those lines ?

Hi Guys - Dan/therube/Lnwdz

Sorry for the delay. Your replies aren't being sent on to my email address?

Thanks for the replies. The best I can do for a visual link is below.

The image of my Google homepage is hosted on Flickr. I hope that will get you through.

I still haven't solved the problem of the obscured texts though!

Sadly the image is not a 1:1 screenshot. I can not see anything on it.

Which graphics card do you have? Newest drivers? HWA (Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Browsing -> Use hardware acceleration ... )?

Thanks.
I can reproduce the problem when I activate "Zoom text only" and then choosing a large zoom factor.

Hi trolly/LIMPET235 - Thanks for the interest.

Lnwdz -

Is the Firefox zoom set to 100% for google?

Increasing/decreasing the zoom doesn't have any effect on the problem.

(I'm not on Windows, by the way).
