On my Windows 7 machine, I just downgraded back to 39.0.3 for now, I was originally assuming there was some conflict with another addon. But I just set up a new laptop with Windows 8.1 where Greasemonkey is the only addon installed and I still have the same problem, none of my basic scripts are working with any version of Firefox starting with 40 and up. Both machines are x64. The scripts I've been using are pretty basic... changing the favicon for a few sites, highlighting certain blocks of text if it catches a particular word, along those lines.

Has anyone else run into this and any suggestions how to fix it?

Is GreaseMonkey up-to-date? There have been 4 new versions released this year alone.

There is a GreaseMonkey user group over here:

A GM "forum" here:

And yet another here - although it has been useless for me trying to find any GM information for my GM scripts there.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste. Mine has wandered off and I'm out looking for it.

Yes, first thing I checked was that it was up to date, I do have the newest version, 3.3. I'll try one of the other forums as well for help with this.

Thanks for the info.

Thought I'd post an update just in case anyone else runs into this. I finally got most of my GM scripts working again in Firefox 40+, all but one that changes the favicon at a specific site. It seems that site is protected by CSP, so the GM script doesn't work using base64 code for the favicon. However if I upload the .ico image somewhere and reference the .ico file itself and not the base64 code, then it works to change the favicon.

Here's some discussions about the CSP:

https://github.com/greasemonkey/greasemonkey/issues/2046

Github.com btw is one of the sites where I can't change the favicon, but it displays just a blank space where an icon should be. At my original problem site, the original ugly icon continues to show.
