Greetings. Hoping to get some advice and feedback.

I recently moved to FF42 from the last version and have been using the Classic Theme Restorer add-on since it's first version to configure the GUI. One of the areas I was able to configure was the GUI for the Tools -> Options menu to maintain the "older" look, which I very much prefer.

However, upon updating to FF42 with Classic Theme Restorer 1.4.3, I am no longer able to keep that older menu and now can only choose between a number of options in CTR but they all have the "new" look. I went into about:config and changed browser.preferences.inContent to FALSE - however that has not changed anything.

Can anyone tell me if there's a way I can restore the old options menu - or must I get accustomed to using the newer GUI ? It's not a big deal - but if anyone knows how to make that work, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks!

Thanks very much for your speedy reply.

Yes, CTR does provide an option for a separate window, and I am using that. But the the window has that new "aero" style look to it.

Previous to FF 42, CTR also provided the option for the old "classic" GUI for the options menu, and I'm wondering if there's an option (or other method) to restore that look. At this point, any option I select in CTR still returns the new "aero" style interface. which I really don't like.

Thanks again!

The latest versions of CTR have a lot of choices for the Options/Preferences windows if you click the button to open the selection list.
General UI (1): Options page (about:preferences): default appearance

Which did you try?

I use "Open options in a window (V2)" and it looks like this:

Now I am using Windows 7 Pro with a Classic Theme and the default Firefox theme.

This is how it looks for me with Red Cats full theme. I'm very grateful to have it but I wish it looked more like it used to in Fx and still does in Pale Moon.

I don't quite follow. Is there a setting in about:config which will restore the earlier appearance? Is so , which setting.
Thank you.

No, CTR does more than just set an about:config preference. You can ask Aris himself if you want: viewtopic.php?f=48&t=2827985 It's probably a combination of custom windows and CSS.
