Virtual Keyboard Pops up on inputable pages

This just started happening tonight, and only on my FF browser (not IE or chrome).

When I open any page with a screen that has an input field, like a login screen or search field, the virtual keyboard pops up on my tablet. How can I stop this?

Quit looking, I found it!

It must have updated to Version 43 without me noticing.

In version 43, the pref in about:config, ui.osk.enabled is set to true by default. Toggling it to false "fixed" it for me. It was extremely annoying and driving me crazy! I've been looking for a solution for hours... it's way past my bed time, and I've missed my sleep window. I'll probably be awake for hours.

The OP said IE so it seems like it is a Windows tablet or touch screen laptop and not Android. ;)

Yes, a Dell Venue 8 Pro. Windows 8.1.
Sorry if I posting in the wrong place, put I don't see that it being a tablet was as much of the issue as it being a general Firefox issue.

moved back to Firefox Support since Mobile section is for Android and "Firefox OS" devices.

Try toggling this in about:config (OSK = on-screen keyboard):

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste OSK and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the ui.osk.enabled preference to switch it from true to false

I also noticed this one, which may or may not be helpful for Windows 8.1 users: ui.osk.require_win10

Does that help or make it completely impossible to call up a keyboard?

Thanks jscher2000, but as you can see in the 2nd posting of this tread, I found the solution within an hour of my first post, and I posted it in case someone else had the same problem.
