Bookmarks back up

Post by iancol »

Hi all,

Unless I've missed something, there isn't an option to nominate a location for bookmarks back ups (eg like the one for downloads).

I update my bookmarks quite frequently and it's a pain getting to the chosen folder every time. Any chance of this feature being added at some point? The feature's more or less there for restores, as it offers the location of the last back up.

Thanks,

Ian

Hi,
I'm not sure if this has been recommended to you before but try FEBE.
It does auto backups (configurable) of all of or your selected items to wherever you desire.

FEBE > http://softwarebychuck.com/febe/febe.html
There's also MozBackUp which does both Firefox & Thunderbird.
MBU > http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/

From the Devs site...
MozBackup is not being developed anymore.
There are known issues and there is no time on my side to fix all issues and develop new features.
Use MozBackup only on your risk. Thanks for understanding.
Firefox will auto back up to your Profile folder & cannot be changed. AFAIK.

Moving to Firefox Support..

(Always choose the "Custom" Install.)

Are you just talking about getting to a specific folder on disk? without having to run all over the place to find it? ... that's what it sounds like... if so, why don't you just put a shortcut to that area on your desktop?

Hi df,

I back up my bookmarks in a folder in Documents\My Documents\Web\Bookmarks, so a few steps to get to it. Yes, a short cut will save some effort and I may yet use that option. I've downloaded the FEBE file, though, and will see if I can use it easily and for other back ups as well. The Mozbackup option is not a good one, in my experience. It's also got a health warning on the home page.

Thanks again,

Ian
