Version 46.0.1 on Windows 7 ceasing to respond

After a few mnutes ceases to respond - on any site or even when setting options or viewing addons etc.

There is no indication what triggers this off and the browser becomes unusable as this occurs so frequently.

As a test, create a new, clean Profile & see if that does the same.

First thought is antivirus or similar.
Is this a new issue?
Where did you download FF 46 from?

Sorry for being thick - how do I do this?
Have used FF for years and transferred to each new computer no problem
(been trying to look via "Options" but FF does not stay functioning for long enough)

Been going on for about 3 weeks.
BTW FF on laptop running on XP - no problems at all.

Where did you download FF 46 from?
