Re: Links no longer open in a new tab
Suggestion if you use a 3 button mouse or can middle-click on a laptop - middle-click the links in Reddit, works for me.
Firefox user since Aug 2002 and with the various changes over the years "doing a new tab" via middle-click has always worked, except on certain types of JS links. I am not averse to using an extension to modify Firefox, but IMHO TabMix Plus is too much of an "everything including the kitchen sink" extension for my tastes. Prone to breakage or causing seemingly unrelated problems from what I see in various Firefox support fora I use all too often. Smaller, less features per extension is the way I go.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste. Mine has wandered off and I'm out looking for it.

Re: Links no longer open in a new tab
Eventually I may end up doing middle-click for new tabs but right now I've been using middle click to open certain links in the current tab. Since external links (not just within reddit) are encountered often, I would prefer to wait to see if there's a possible solution that fixes TMP, reveals a firefox bug, or if there's a greasemonkey script correcting it. Otherwise I have to mentally learn to use middle-click for most things that I click.

Something's not clicking on your end?Links to other sites within reddit STILL open in the current page/tab, even with the clean profile.
New, clean, default FF Profile.
Add the bookmarklet to the Profile.
URL: www.reddit.com
Link on the page: "How to shoot yourself with an arrow"
Source:
Code: Select all

Code: Select all
a target="_blank"
After, clicking the link opens in a new tab.
Fire 750, bring back 250.

Re: Links no longer open in a new tab
You might want to reboot your PC into safe-mode with Network active... start Firefox and test out that new tab problem.... I'm wondering if your AV software is blocking that function... thinking that it's blocking popups? ... just thinking here....
As you can see she's (The CAT) always alert and on the prowl for Meoware !!

I've restarted several times since having this problem. I don't use AV software except when I scan a program for viruses with malwarebytes

Re: Links no longer open in a new tab
Okay something is wrong with my firefox profile, I guess. It won't let me play videos from cwseed.com, clicking a video won't go to the video page. I've disabled all extensions. I went to my clean firefox profile and the videos work there.

Do you know how to create a new profile? Then I'd try the link I suggested earlier. Has always worked for me. And I usually use Palemoon.

Re: Links no longer open in a new tab
The links still open in the current tab in the new clean profile. At first I thought it was TMP but I disabled it and no change. What happens is that the bookmarklet works it opens links in a new tab. I click another subreddit at reddit.com and clicking on any link opens in the current tab. It's like the bookmarklet of target new windows only works for a short time.

Re: Links no longer open in a new tab
Also bookmarklet changes do not persist, so the next time you load reddit, or if you refresh the page, or if you go back a page, then forward again, the changes are lost. (Actually, maybe if the mod'd page is cached, the last might not be true, not sure.)
Anyhow, while the bookmarklet works in a "one time" mode, doing something similar in Greasemonkey should allow it to work "every time" you load reddit (or whatever sites you choose). I don't know Greasemonkey, so whether the JavaScript from a bookmarklet is "plug & play" in Greasemonkey, I wouldn't know?

Re: Links no longer open in a new tab
this is the code that i have for a greasemonkey script, it works for the most part, just too good. i keep having to configure it to ignore certain sites because it opens ALL links in new tabs.
Code: Select all
var x = document.getElementsByTagName('a');
for(var i=0;i<x.length;i++)
{
x[i].setAttribute('target','_blank');
}

Is the 'box' at the very top of your Preferences Page
(Clicking Options) "open links in a new window"
Checked?

I couldn't find the "box" you speak of in either firefox preferences or TMP but here is the screenshot http://i.imgur.com/AgyHZ22.png
