Just got FF 48. Got everything the way I like it except that new "Other Bookmarks" folder thing on the bookmarks drop down menu. How the heck do you delete it or at least hide it?

Thanks

Anyone? This really annoys me :-) In 47 it was easy to do. Now with 48 not so much...

The add-on "Classic Theme Restorer" mostly works for me.
General UI (2) - Popup Hide 'Unsorted Bookmarks' (check)
At least it hides the "Other Bookmarks" (48) / "Unsorted Bookmarks' folder.

How did you do it in 47?

Hi,
I also find that new "Other Bookmarks" folder annoying and for some unknown reason you can not hide it.

I did try "Classic Theme Restorer" and followed all advice given in
sam.malenfant's posting, but unfortunately that did NOT work for me.

I am using Firefox 48.0 installed on Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11.6

However the good news is that the Add-on "Menu Wizard" has hidden that unwanted folder, the description for this Add-on states that it can do the following:

Customize menus : Helps removing, moving and renaming menus and menu items
Colorize important menu for ease of use! (use Style (CSS))
Change or disable any of used keyboard shortcuts
Support: Firefox, Thunderbird and SeaMonkey

Here is where you will find it.

This (Simple Bookmarks Menu) does the job ....

but it still calls it Unsorted Bookmarks

Hi madmudmob,

I did notice that "Simple Bookmarks Menu" in my search of the Firefox Add-ons, however it is not suitable for my platform which is Mac OS X El Capitan.

I am most satisfied with "Menu Wizard" as it hides that new "Other Bookmarks" folder which has appeared in Firefox 48.0, This "Menu Wizard" also gives you the ability to hide, remove, rename and move many aspects of the different menus of Firefox.

Some people may indeed find this Add-on is overkill if they only wish to hide this "Other Bookmarks" folder. But for me this the only Add-on which does the job, I also like the fact that this gives me much more control over exactly what gets displayed in those Firefox menus which often have many items listed.

With "Menu Wizard" I can now easily hide all those menu items I have never used and mostly will never have any need for, So this Add-on really suits my needs.

This ability to customize Firefox extensively through Add-ons and via other methods is just one reason why I'm a long term Firefox user.

Must admit I'm a great fan of customizing with add-ons too which is why I was gutted when I read here recently that they will soon no longer be available in Firefox :(

CTR worked in Linux Mint and Ubuntu (pretty much the same browser) hiding Other Bookmarks.
Wonder why it can't be deleted easily?

Classic Theme Restorer can do it in Firefox 52 ESR ... General UI page #4 ... and check the box for:
Popup: Hide other bookmarks menu and menu item
