Version 43.0.1 — 32 or 64-bit?
Hello, all.
I'm running Firefox 43.0.1 (released in December 2015), and have just now downloaded the 43.0.1 setup file for backup purposes. Actually, I've downloaded two (2) copies from two download sites, just to see if the files are the same.
Size-wise, they aren't the same. One setup file is 43.59 MB, and the other is 45.32 MB. Might the larger one be 64-bit? When I right-click on the files and riffle through "Properties" I see no mention of "bittage". Maybe I don't know what to look for.
As an aside, I've run both files through multiple virus/malware scanners, and both are clean.
As to why I'm running an antiquated version of Firefox, I've grown attached to several older extensions that were abandoned when Firefox underwent its 2016 overhaul. And since Geezerfox 43.0.1 still runs trouble-free, I'm sticking with it a while longer.
Appreciate your help, and thanks.

You should download from here:

Think for yourself. Otherwise you have to believe what other people tell you.

Trolly, that's really helpful, and thanks very much.
At the risk of causing eyes to roll, is there a way to verify what "bittage" of Firefox (x32 or x64) is currently running on my computer? I know the info must be in the guts of the browser somewhere, but am not sure where to look.
I ask because my 64-bit version of Windows 7 is running 32 and 64-bit software.
Again, many thanks.

The WOW64 in your user agent indicates you have a 64bit operating system and you are using a 32bit version of Firefox..
Trolly is using a 64 bit version on a 64 bit OS

Thanks, malliz. You're right on all counts!
How'd you figure out what my user agent was up to? (You can say you have magic powers, and I'll believe you.)

Look at bottom right of your posts.BrooksNYC wrote:How'd you figure out what my user agent was up to?
Note Firefox 43.0.1 is vulnerable as it does not have the security fixes that is in 50.0 and 45.5.0 ESR so you have to be more careful.

For some reason, James, there's nothing visible at the bottom right of anyone's post — including mine.James wrote:Look at bottom right of your posts.
I do appreciate the security warning, and thanks.

Okay, THAT'S weird. Once I posted my reply, the stuff you mentioned appeared in the bottom right of all the panes.
It wasn't visible before, I swear!

maybe an update issue? if not - major changes were made long before, so there is no reason to deal with a high vulnerable version. sticking with it because addons seems stupid from my view.Note Firefox 43.0.1 is vulnerable as it does not have the security fixes that is isn 50.0 and 45.5.0 ESR so have to be more careful.

I know you're right, Brummelchen, and thanks for your concern. You're not the first to take me to task for running an insecure browser. One day I'll upgrade.
Mystery solved. The info appears as soon as you login. To anyone not logged in, it's invisible.BrooksNYC wrote:THAT'S weird. Once I posted my reply, the stuff you mentioned appeared in the bottom right of all the panes.
