Firefox crashing all the time
Hello all, been using FF for a long time, but for probably a lot of this year, FF has been crashing, a lot. Now to save some time, I will link to another forum I use to try and fix any issues such as this one, that way I don't have to type everything out. They weren't really able to help me, and suggested I come here for help.

https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/ ... a452161223
https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/ ... 4fa2161223
Those 4 crashes were from today. While the crashing sucks and is very annoying, what is worse is that FF never opens my windows in the same order I had them in. So I have to close them, and manually open them in the order they were in, and the order I want them in. In the past, they would always open in the same order, and wasn't that big of a deal.
Hopefully we can figure out what is causing the crashing, and are able to fix it. Thanks.

Re: Firefox crashing all the time
try disabling JIT compiler
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_crashes#JIT_compiler
but - could also be a memory problem (less or corrupted=defective), seems an older machine because running XP SP2 x64 (5.2)
i can not care and dont have it installed to help.
good luck and a merry xmas.

#edit
such users using old and highly vulnerable systems use it consciously, such systems are like weapons, possible zombie machines. if they dont care about why should i care about trouble which such outdates systems are causing?
btw where is your help, or just increasing your counter for nuts?

Re: Firefox crashing all the time
Well if you happened to check out the link to bleepingcomputer that I provided, you'd see that it is not an old computer, and was built in January 2015. I don't like Windows 7 and up, including Vista as well, so I use XP/Server 2003 because I love the look, layout, GUI, the fact that it works, and is faster than Windows 7. But since you didn't check out the link, I've already ram memtest86 for 6 passes with no errors, so it's highly unlikely to be a memory error, but thanks for caring.Brummelchen wrote:try disabling JIT compiler

I'd also like to point out that I did try safe mode, and while it didn't crash, it can go for hours without a crash, and I only tried safe mode for an hour or 2, so I don't know if safe more was really safe. It also crashed 2 times after a complete uninstall/delete folders/reinstall, with no add-ons installed.

Re: Firefox crashing all the time
i have read now bleeping - sorry, i expected a short summary from there. what i would say after readin it i still would say that your XP SP2 is causing all that trouble. dude, nearly all vendors have dropped sp2 wether x86 or x64 wether x64 sp2 is close to x86 sp2 - nevertheless it is sp2.
concerning flash definitely sp2 is your trouble:
and i saw you were running avg. as written some dont recommend avg however. avg was overtaken by avast and i hope the avg crap finally would disapppear. have you uninstalled avg for testing purpose? is it clear that avg is not causing the culprit.
concerning the crash with "nsNodeUtils::NativeAnonymousChildListChange"
target by attackers: http://www.cvedetails.com/cve/CVE-2016-5264/
the problem behind is that avg (or other antivirus) is not able to detect and prevent those attacks.
thats why i am such aggressive concerning outdated and no longer supported systems or software like browsers. you never have control about certain attacks because antivirus software maybe can detect few of them but in fact your system os highly vulnerable to undetecable attacks like those.
at least it only has advantages if you change to a newer windows - wether you like it or not - or to linux or similar current OS.
i have running windows 7, 8 and 10, current and main system is win8. btw driver issues will be next, some vendors dropped xp/vista support long ago. so outdated drivers may cauise issues too.

Re: Firefox crashing all the time
Well I disabled that JIT compiler, and it seems like FF hangs more now, and some pages take a good while to load. Is this normal?

Windows article on SP3 here.> https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/936929
I was able to download and install SP3 from a link in the document.... Don't know if it is still available from there
FWIW, I am on a laptop which may have made a difference in the update

I'm on Windows Server 2003, which is different from Windows XP. Service Pack 2 is the highest SP that Server 2003 got, which is not the same SP 2 for XP.JayhawksRock wrote:Windows article on SP3 here.> https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/936929

from his user agent here
sp2 was last release for xp x64, was close to the release of sp3 for x86, similar fixes.
even sereby.org has no cumulate update package for sp2 x64, all current only for x86.
