When I'm browsing a forum or a tumblr that have many animated gifs I am interested in Firefox 51 turns slow, then freezes up and I can't close it I have to use Task Manager.
When I'm browsing the same page with Chrome this does not happen but there is just slight stutter with Chrome but no freezing.
What gives?
Many animated GIFS on page makes FF collapse but not Chrome

Hi, Have you tried Firefox' Safe Mode yet?
Might be due to an extension etc.

In about:config type (or copy/paste from here) image.animation_mode
Double click it, delete the setting called "normal" and replace it with the word once so that it looks like you see it in the screenshot: https://i.imgsafe.org/5ba38eddd5.png
Animations will only play one time after that.
You can also replace "normal" with the word none to prevent them from playing at all.
